Bay Window Removal

Work involved:

  • Removal of old bay windows

  • New footings

  • Installation of windows and patio doors

This project was completed in January 2020 and it involved removing the existing bay windows as can be seen in the gallery below and replacing them with new windows and a patio door. New footings to carry the new block and brick work were also installed.

View section below our gallery for more information about the options used.

Do you need planning permission to remove a bay window?

Bay windows are different to a standard window because they protrude out from the wall of a house. Because of this, for planning permission purposes, they're treated like an extension:

  • If you're replacing an existing bay window then you DON'T need planning permission

  • If you're adding new bay windows at the front of the house, you DO need planning permission

  • If you're adding new bay windows at the side and back of the house usually you DON'T need planning permission
